An efficient traffic system, a secure network of energy suppliers and a state-of-the-art telecom system:  Austria's infrastructure is more than just competitive.

Traffic Infrastructure

The list of Austria ’s competitive qualities as a logistics location is quite extensive. As the East-West and North-South trading interface in Europe, Austria boasts a dense network of transport connections running at regular intervals to destinations in Western Europe, but above all, to the markets of Central and Southern Europe. This applies to all the different modes of transportation. In Europe’s overall transport mix, Austria ranks second when it comes to promoting railway use.

Highly qualified shipping, logistics and transport companies have built up their own European and international networks. The highly specialized and internationally recognized logistics know-how is one of the bottom-line competitive advantages of Austria as a business location.

The infrastructure of Austria ’s logistics industry features modern terminals with high rack warehouses, ample freight handling facilities and good transport links, as well as a first-class communications infrastructure with broadband connections, nationwide mobile phone coverage and outstanding opportunities to conduct business electronically.

ICT Infrastructure

Information technologies have become a key industry for the economic and social development. The availabillity of modern telecom infrastructure at affordable costs and a growing range of telecom services at internationally competitive prices are decisive criteria in location decisions.

As international experiences have shown, a competitive telecom landscape fullfills these demands best. The Austrian telecom market has been highly dynamic and has transformed rapidlly since its liberalization.

Austria is European champion in e-Government

For the second time Austria was ranked first in the benchmarking study of e-Government services carried out in 2007. The broad-based survey contracted by the European Commission measured and compared the availability and quality of basic public services in 31 European countries (27 EU member states plus Iceland, Norway, Switzerland and Turkey).
