Strong performance by the Austrian export economy

Red-white-red exports rose in the first seven months of this year by 10.3%. The foreign trade balance is positive by almost one billion euros.

Austria's foreign trade has achieved significant growth levels in the first seven months of this year. Total value of imports rose to EUR 63.92 billion, an increase of 7.9% on last year, whilst exports rocketed by 10.3% to EUR 64.88 billion. The foreign trade surplus for the first seven months is therefore almost one billion euros. Austrian goods generated a value of EUR 47.87bn from EU countries (+10.3%). Foreign trade with third countries saw a lower rise for imports (+6.6%) than for exports to third countries (+10.3%).
