Unemployment continues to fall - 19th drop in a row

The unemployment rate in Austria is continuing to fall, the length of unemployment is also down on the previous year, while the number of people in employment is rising. 

The situation in the Austrian job market improved considerably in September 2007. There was a further drop in unemployment, for the 19th time in a row. The unemployment rate in September was down 0.3% on last year to 4.3%, while the number of people in employment rose by around 42,000 (+1.3%) to 3,378,300. In September 2007 the number of available jobs stood at 41,942 - 9.8% more than a year ago. The length of unemployment was an average 93 days in September, which is 5 days shorter than the previous year.
