Apeiron, based in Vienna, Austria, is a biotech company with a focus on biological and immunological approaches to treat cancer. Apeiron’s portfolio consists of 4 clinical projects. The two most advanced are in phase III and phase II against the orphan indication neuroblastoma, a severe pediatric cancer. An enzyme therapy for topical treatment against dermatological problems in the context of cancer therapies is currently tested in a pilot study, a cellular therapy to boost the immune system to combat cancer will enter the clinic soon.

In 2010, Apeiron licensed out an enzyme-based treatment for Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome and other diseases in a deal with GSK worth up to €236 million plus royalties.
