Austrian Fashion Design in New York

Creativity, sophistication, craftsmanship and style of Austrian fashion design will be brought to the United States for the first time by a presentation scheduled to take place in New York City from June 21st – June 24th 2010. Eleven of the best Austrian labels will participate in an event that is organized by the Austrian Trade Commission in New York in an effort to position Austrian fashion alongside other European designers that have successfully penetrated the US market. Christian Kesberg, the Austrian Trade Commissioner for the United States defines the inextricable link of innovation and tradition as Austrian fashion’s truly defining trait. Austrian labels merge a quest for elegance with a stress on comfort, and an appreciation of technique, not for its own sake, but a way to make products that perform and function at their best. “Right now fashion – on a global scale – needs ideas and quality and Austrian fashion has plenty of both. It is time to get our best young designers the exposure that they deserve in the city that of all major fashion capitals in the world will appreciate most what we have to offer,” said Mr. Kesberg.

All designers will show a selection from their Spring 2011 collections. They will meet with showroom representatives and buyers at the Ramscale Studios from June 21st to June 23rd.
