Once again Vienna is the venue of a World Congress

The global water industry meets from September 7th to 12, 2008 on the occasion of the IWA World Water Congress at the Austria Center Vienna. 3,000 delegates from 130 countries are expected. The congress organizers are IWA - International Water Association and IAWD - International Association of Water Supply Companies in the Danube River Catchment Area. Partners are the Council of European Municipalities and Regions (CEMR / CEMR) and the City of Vienna. Walter KLING of MA 31 – the municipal department of the City of Vienna which is directly concerned with water works - is the Congress President.

Of course, the 2008 World Congress will not only focus on the current state of the water industry, but will deal very much with the future. In the course of the congress a total of 110 technical and scientific meetings will be held in 30 workshops. The biennial World Water Congress is one of the water sector’s most important international events. As evidenced by the many international organizations locating in Vienna, the city has become a hub for international cooperation in many fields.
