The Diplomatic Academy’s well-established Summer Course for German Language and Austrian Studies takes place between August 4 and 29 in Vienna.

The programme combines four weeks of intensive German language training at different levels of competence (from beginners to advanced, in accordance with the Council of Europe’s Common European Framework) with workshops and lectures on Austrian politics, history, economy and culture. During the course, several research projects are organised to give participants the opportunity to discover the ‘real’ Vienna beyond tourist clichés.

Additionally, there are study visits to international organisations based in Vienna, as well as to Austrian political and cultural institutions (United Nations, museums etc.). An all-day excursion offers participants the opportunity to discover a part of Austria outside Vienna. Moreover, leisure activities such as hiking, a visit to a ‘Heuriger’ (Austrian wine tavern) and Waltz lessons are organised on an optional basis. Participants also have the opportunity to take the internationally recognised Österreichisches Sprachdiplom (Austrian Language Certificate) exam. In addition, career counselling activities are offered during the course.

The Summer Course is particularly designed to meet the special needs and interests of students and learners from various professional backgrounds from all over the world. Classes are communicative, learner-oriented and are taught in small groups.
