April 20, 2016

"Europe 2018: The Framework for the Future - And How to Benefit".

More than 100 participants from renowned Wall Street firms attended this year’s 21st Austria, an investor and business conference co-organized by Advantage Austria. The 4th annual event took place on Apr. 13, 2016 at the Palace Hotel on Madison Avenue and was titled: "Europe 2018: The Framework for the Future - And How to Benefit". Goal of the conference is to position Austria – and the Vienna Stock Exchange – as an attractive market for investors.

Representatives of Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Blackrock, AIG, Citi Bank, Barron’s were amongst the participants of the conference. The high turnout also reflects the need of information about Europe and Austria. Speakers included Ewald Nowotny, Governor of the Austrian Central Bank, Austrian Finance Minister Hans Jörg Schelling, Ambroise Fayolle, Vice-President European Investment Bank, Claus J. Raidl, President of the Austrian Central Bank and many more

Nowotny, who is also a member of the ECB Governing Council, said there shouldn’t be any over dramatization regarding the ultra-low inflation in the Euro area, as it should start rising this summer. He thinks there will be a normalization of inflation rates because oil prices will not go down as dramatically as last year and therefore automatically inflation will be higher.
