Austrian Blow Molder Adds Sixth US Plastic Bottle Manufacturing Plant

Alpla Inc., a subsidiary of the Austrian Alpla-Werke Alwin Lehner GmbH & Co KG headquartered in Hard, recently announced the opening of a USD 7.2 million plant in Raeford, NC. It will be the sixth plant in the US and employ a staff of 40 within three years. Alpla is a leading international manufacturer of bottles, preforms, caps and tubes for the food and beverage, cosmetics and home-care industries. The North Carolina facility will be located on the campus of Unilever Corporation, Alpla’s major client, ensuring continuous cooperation between the companies.

Alpla was founded in 1955 and is still family-owned. The company operates 112 plants with 10,000 employees in 37 countries generating an annual turnover of USD 3.5 billion (2008). Alpla started their US operations in 2002 and has plants in McDonough (GA), Iowa City (IA), Jefferson City (MO) and Lima (OH).
