Substantial Investment in St. Louis Region

Alpla Inc., a privately held $3 billion manufacturer of plastic packaging, recently announced it bought a 83,485-square-foot industrial property at 9 Cermak Blvd. in St. Peters, Mo.

Austrian-based Alpla said it plans to initially hire 50 to 100 employees and invest $12 million to $16 million in the facility. Within 10 years, the company expects growth to reach some 150 employees and increase investment to $25 million.

Alpla is currently recruiting workers and plans to start operations this June.
Alpla received $429,296 in Missouri Quality Jobs incentives for the project, said John Fougere, a spokesman for the Missouri Department of Economic Development.
“Alpla is excited to locate in the St. Louis region to better serve one of our largest global customers,” said Ken Sigman, Alpla's director of sales and marketing.

Alpla operates 128 manufacturing facilities in 37 countries with 10,000 employees. The company manufactures bottles, caps and tubes for a variety of consumer products. Alpla was founded in Hard, Austria in 1955 by Alwin and Helmuth Lehner.
