Austria’s Gantner Instruments Supplies Hardware for GM Battery Lab

General Motors recently unveiled a 33,000 sq-ft Global Battery Systems Lab in Michigan, which will be used to develop and test nickel-metal-hydride and lithium-ion technologies for hybrids, plug-in hybrids, electric vehicles and fuel-cell powered cars and trucks.

Planned for installation at the new lab are 64 data acquisition and control systems. Made by A&D Technology, these systems will coordinate thermal chambers, power process systems and conditioning units, as well as interface with battery control modules and lab safety systems.

The hardware for these systems is designed and manufactured by Gantner Instruments, which is leading provider of solutions for measurement and test applications as well as long term and process monitoring. Headquartered in Austria, Gantner has sales offices in several countries. Gantner’s know-how is available in the United States through its sales partner IoSelect
