Gap Inc. launches first store in Vienna

As announced in July, Gap Inc. finally launched its flagship store at the Donauzentrum Mall in Vienna on Thursday, October 2nd 2014. Gottex Brands, a member of the Trimera group and one of Gap Inc.’s franchise partners, will run the business in Austria. The company considers Vienna a lucrative market due to its high rate of tourism. A full range of products will be offered in the new store.

“We launched in five new markets last year: Hungary, Paraguay, Peru, Brazil, and Costa Rica, and with the opening of stores in Slovenia and Austria we will now bring our iconic brand to customers through stores in almost 50 countries,” said Gap Brand President, Steve Sunnucks.

Today Gap Inc. is one of the leading American clothing retailers with over 350 franchise and 3,100 company-operated stores in more than 90 countries all over the world and affiliated companies such as Banana Republic and Old Navy.

In 2011 Gap Inc. announced a new strategy focusing on the Chinese and European markets. With USD 16.1billion net sales in 2013, the policy appears to be promising.
