Ohio is definitely one of the more popular business destinations for Austrian companies. The structure of the economies in Ohio and Austria are quite similar with a heavy focus on manufacturing and much expertise in the machinery and automotive sectors. Some examples for recent Austrian contracts and investments in Ohio are:

• Miba's expansion of its McConnelsville, Ohio plant (opening planned for May 2009)
• AGRANA Fruit’s Innovation and Product Development Center in Brecksville, OH
• Andritz’s R&D facilities in Springfield, OH
• Contract with Austrian architectural firm (Coop Himmelb(l)au) for the expansion of the Akron Art Museum and
• DS Automation’s Contract for the Cleveland Heart Clinic's Logistics System

Austrian Consul General Dr. Robert Zischg, Austrian Trade Commissioner Mr. Franz Roessler and Director of Invest in Austria Mr. Gisbert Mayr presented Austria’s investment opportunities, political climate and its transatlantic relationship with the US at an April 2, 2009 event at the European-American Chamber of Commerce in Cincinnati.
