An Accessory Fuel Filler Door for the Chevrolet Camaro, designed, engineered, developed and supplied by Polytec Foha Inc., part of the Austrian based POLYTEC GROUP received a finalist trophy at the 46th Automotive Innovation Awards Competition & Gala hosted by the Society of Plastics Engineers on November 9, 2016 in Detroit, Michigan.

The SPE’s Automotive Innovation Awards program is the oldest and largest competition of its kind in the automotive and plastics industries, annually honoring the industry’s leading companies for the most innovative use of plastic. In 2015, Polytec Foha Inc. won a first place category award for one of its windscreen products used in the Chevrolet Corvette.

This year, the company’s “Dual-Option Insert Carbon Fiber Composite Fuel-Filler Door” (full name), available through the General Motor Customer Care and Aftersales Program was nominated in the Aftermarket Category, where it was the only nominee to receive a finalist trophy besides the category winner, a carbon fiber composite spoiler for the Chevrolet Corvette.

Polytec’s multi material fuel-filler door is the first of its kind with interchangeable fuel filler door appearance inserts using exposed weave carbon fiber or accent painted plastic Noryl (Nylon/PPE).
