Important step in establishing presence in US military industry

The Austrian company System Industrie Electronic Holding AG (SIE), specializing in medical technology and security engineering, recently bought a former competitor, the American company Carlo Gavazzi Computing Solutions, Inc. Through this strategic acquisition, SIE has taken an important step in establishing itself in the US military industry. Gavazzi is considered an established player with US defense and military institutions, but their main customers are notable subcontractors such as Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Sikorsky, and Boeing.

In September, SIE resumed full production after having cutback production capacity in various product segments earlier this year. The goal to avoid layoffs was achieved through intensive accounting and administrative efforts

SIE At A Glance:
Sales for 2008:                  €23 million
Estimated Sales for 2009:    €31 million
Employees:                       200 worldwide (85 at the Lustenau headquarters)
Core Competency:    Development and production of custom-designed industrial PCs and distribution of electronic components
