The Austrian company Austriamicrosytems, a leading designer and manufacturer of analog IC’s and sensors for the communications, automotive, medical and industrial applications announced in January 2008 an equity investment in a privately held U.S. firm.  In exchange for an investment of USD 6 million, Austriamicrosystems now has a 25% minority share of   New Scale of Victor, NY.  New Scale designs and manufactures miniature motion systems.

This investment is good for both companies as product and business development will both benefit.  New products can now be designed which will integrate Austriamicrosystems high-performance IC’s with New Scales patented “SQUIGGLE” motors.  New Scales “SQUIGGLE” motors are the world’s smallest linear motors.  Paired with Austriamicrosystems motor controllers and position sensors, New Scale engineers will be able to create complete motion systems which are the same size as current miniature motors. Opportunities are currently being actively pursued for mobile phone cameras, electronic locks, medical devices and automotive systems applications.

Austriamicrosystems is a leading designer and manufacturer of high performance analog ICs, combining more than 25 years of analog design capabilities and system know-how with its own state-of-the-art manufacturing and test facilities.
