Constantia Packaging more than Doubles its Profits

Annual Figures Reflect Significant One-Time Effects

For Constantia Packaging , one of Austria´s leading industrial groups, the 2007 financial year was remarkable with respect to the positive financial figures and the strategic focus of the company. Sales jumped 48% to EUR 1.6 billion (USD 2.5 billion) from EUR 1.1 billion (USD 1.7 billion) in 2006, and net income soared 109% to EUR 105 million (USD 165 million) from EUR 50 million (USD 79 million). Net income includes one-time financial effects, most of them arising from the full consolidation of the 73.45 %-stake in Austria Metall AG (AMAG) as of Oct. 1, 2007. In addition the excellent results of the existing segments contributed to the best financial year in Constantia Packaging Group´s history.

The Constantia Packaging Group’s activities include the aluminum, corrugated board and flexible packaging segments. Approximately 8,400 employees working in 20 countries in Europe, Asia and North America produce raw aluminum, aluminum semifinished rolled products, foundry alloys as well as packaging made from aluminum, plastic and corrugated board for the food, beverage, pharmaceutical, automotive and aerospace industries, among others. The Group is forecasting 2008 sales of more than EUR 2 billion.
