Austrian Trade Commission visits rubber injection molding machinery producer in the Chicago suburbs

On the occasion of an Open House at Maplan Starlinger North America, Trade Commissioner Franz Roessler and Plastics Project Manager Sabine Miller visited the subsidiary of Maplan Maschinen und technische Anlagen GmbH (headquartered in Ternitz, Austria) in Hanover Park, Illinois, on April 7, 2008. President Patrick Hook talked about the company’s history in the US, successes and current challenges and presented the facility with several rubber injection molding machines in operation.

The Open House was held in conjunction with the International Silicone and Rubber Molding Conference in Rosemont, Illinois to demonstrate Maplan’s Cure5 machine as well as their self-optimizing rubber injection molding press. Products made with Maplan’s injection molding machines can be found mainly in the automotive supply industry, but also include grips for golf clubs, caps for medical test tubes as well as teatcups for the milking industry.

Maplan is an independent member of the Starlinger Group, the worldwide leader in machinery and process technology for the production of circular woven plastic bags. Starlinger looks back at an impressive 170 years of success, reinforcing Maplan’s rise to the top three worldwide suppliers of rubber injection presses.

Maplan operates subsidiaries in Germany, France and in the US as well as sister companies in China and Malaysia and has worldwide sales and service agents. For further information, please visit their website at www.maplan.at.
