World of Concrete 2008: Concrete projects getting leaner, greener

Austrian delegation visits Las Vegas to learn about opportunities in the US concrete industry

Austrian companies occupy a leading role worldwide in the construction industry. The continuous demand of quality products in the U.S. is creating a great opportunity for innovative Austrian products and technolgoies.

The Austrian Trade Commission in Chicago covers a number of industries, including the construction industry in the U.S. as well as in Austria. With the help of the U.S. Commercial Service in Vienna, eleven Austrian companies made the trip over the Atlantic to be part of World of Concrete 2008. The U.S. Commercial Service in Vienna organized a 5-day program for the Austrian participants which included a visit to World of Concrete 2008. The purpose of the trip to Las Vegas was to get a look into current trends and developments in the US concrete industry. Furthermore, the participants were interested in finding suitable and mutually beneficial partnerships with US companies.

Two of Austria's leaading companies in the construction industries, DOKA USA and Palfinger North America, were part of the exhibitors and presented their continued growth throughout the US.

Palfinger North America is a world class manufacturer of knuckle boom cranes, truck-mounted forklifts and hooklift systems and offers several models to find the ideal solution for their customers' loading and unloading needs.

84,789 professional registrants from around the world attended World of Concrete 2008 in Las Vegas, Nevada, January 22 to 25. With more than 900,000 net square feet of the newest concrete and masonry products, ideas and technologies from 1,700 exhibiting companies, World of Concrete delivered the 2 nd largest event in its 34year history, second only to WOC 2007’s recordbreaking show.

World of Concrete 2008 not only offered hundreds of new products, equipment and technology, but also an informative education program consisting of 90-minute and 3-hour seminars, indoor/outdoor events plsu resources and valuable information for industry professionals. New in 2008 was the GREENSITE area of the show floor in the South Hall. Since industry professionals are increasingly finding that getting "healthy" is no longer optional, but mandatory, dozens of exhibitors offered environmentally friendly products and earth-smart technologies.
