Austria’s Zumtobel Lighting, Inc. supports the EMerge Alliance platform for future building interiors

Zumtobel Lighting, Inc. has recently announced its membership in EMerge Alliance, a consortium comprised of experts in architecture, engineering, and construction practices, dedicated to increasing the flexibility, efficiency, and sustainability of commercial buildings.

The organization was launched by founding members Armstrong World Industries, Johnson Controls, Nextek Power Systems, OSRAM SYLVANIA, and WAVE, with the goal of creating a new global standard for power distribution and device control in commercial interiors, integrating power, controls, and periphery devices, including lighting.  By leading the creation and implementation of new standards for power, control, and device-level technology, concentrating on the use of safe, low-voltage direct-current (DC) power, EMerge Alliance aims to "future-proof” the workplace.

While most workplaces today use fixed overhead lighting and other electrical devices that were designed, wired, and distributed to last the lifetime of the building, the ways in which we use electricity have changed.  Consequently, architects and building owners increasingly seek systems that are adaptable to the occupants’ changing needs, in addition to systems that are more energy-efficient.  The focus of EMerge Alliance is to address the growing need for flexibility, efficiency, and sustainability.
