Hitting the spot across the US
The Austrian Wine Marketing Board was founded in 1986 with the aim to support, maintain and increase both the quality and sales of Austrian wines. Every year, the Austrian Wine Marketing Board organizes a wide variety of presentations and wine fairs abroad, including traditional 'Austrian Tastings' in the key export markets, and tastings for sommeliers, wine merchants and journalists.
So far the Austrian Wine Marketing Board has made more than 50 US presentations, including ‘Sommelier’ workshops and master classes, as well as several lifestyle presentations such as ‘Austria Uncorked’ in New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago, attracting the attention of more than 3,000 wine connoisseurs and consumers in the last three years.
With 244 wine estates exporting from Austria, the US is the third most important market with a growing increase in volume and value. Especially gratifying were the increases in 2012 - more than 10% in quantity, and an average price of more than EUR 4 per liter. Total turnover climbed back to the level reached before the 2008/2009 economic crisis, of EUR 8 million.
