Energy Globe "Best Practice Action Week" starts on 5th June
The national Energy Globe winners recently received their awards at ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA offices of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber around the globe. The Action Week will kick off on 5th June 2012 with presentations of the winners and their projects available online on the Energy Globe Award.
Mastering the energy question will be one of the future’s greatest challenges. With this mind, the UN has dedicated 2012 to the topic of “Sustainable Energy for All” and invited Energy Globe to join a mutual global initiative. Celebrating World Environment Day 2012 and in cooperation with UNEP, UNIDO and UNESCO, Energy Globe will be starting its online best practice Action Week on 5th June 2012. Here the Energy Globe Award online portal will present sustainable projects from the Energy Globe winners of 151 countries. “A global initiative like no other in which we will be presenting fantastic environmental solutions and helping individuals discover the ways in which they can save energy”, Energy Globe founder, Wolfgang Neumann.
In the run-up to this, the national Energy Globe winners have received their awards at the ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA offices of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber (WKÖ). For Christoph Leitl, President of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber (WKÖ), the responsible approach to resources is one of the Austrian economy’s most important contributions to sustainable, forward-looking growth. It’s to do with coming together for the benefit of our environment. “Responsibility has become a key element of their business for Austrian companies, also making it an important competitive factor for exports. Everyone must pool their strengths even more intensively and apply them to ecological sustainability”, explains Leitl.
Today the Energy Globe Award is the world’s most important environmental accolade. It recognises projects – from high-tech to simple – which deliver efficient ideas and answers to environmental problems, be it through energy efficiency, renewable energy applications or a cautious approach to resources.
