The "ENERGY GLOBE AWARD" ,today’s most prominent and prestigious environmental prize, is awarded in recognition of the most remarkable initiatives in the renewable energy and world energy efficiency field.
The goal is to present successful sustainable projects to a broad audience, for many of our environmental problems already have good, feasible solutions. Each year some 800 projects and initiatives from all over the world are submitted to compete for the award in the categories Earth, Fire, Water, Air and Youth.
The ENERGY GLOBE is awarded annually in the realm of a huge television gala that is broadcast worldwide to some three billion households. The gala has already taken place in Japan , Canada and (a special honor for the environmental prize) in the Plenary Hall of the European Parliament in Brussels . Prominent guests who presented awards have included Mikhail Gorbachev, Peter Falk (Columbo), Robin Gibb (Bee Gees), Martin Sheen and Nigel Kennedy.
