PALFINGER sets course for further expansion

8. November 2016

The Austrian global market leader in truck crane manufacture is ramping up its business activities with acquisitions in the maritime sector.

The crane manufacturer PALFINGER , a listed company, has been accelerating its program for growth, with the company’s acquisitions targeting expansion in the maritime sector in particular.

PALFINGER’s take-over of the Norwegian Harding Group has allowed it to extend its marine interests with new products and a global service network. Harding is one of the leading suppliers of rescue gear and life-cycle services for shipping and maritime applications. This is the largest acquisition in the company’s history and will double PALFINGER’s turnover in the marine sector to more than EUR 300 million.

PALFINGER intends to further consolidate its position in the maritime sector and is hoping to make further acquisitions – in Asia, for example.

The company is the global market leader for utility vehicle-based lifting solutions, with a broad palette of products. Over the last few years, its core business of truck-mounted loading cranes has been augmented with products for railway lines, forestry management, recycling, the service economy and transport, amongst others.

In 2015, the group’s 9,000 staff achieved a record turnover of EUR 1.23 billion (up 16%). The corporation has manufacturing and assembly facilities in Europe, Asia, and North and South America, and with more than 5,000 sales and service support offices in over 130 countries, PALFINGER is always there to help its customers.
