VAMED is expanding to the UK

23. May 2017

The global expansion of Austrian healthcare group VAMED shows no sign of stopping, and the company had another record year in 2016.

Austrian healthcare group VAMED is taking its first steps on the British Isles just as the UK is embarking upon its withdrawal from the EU. The company has acquired an interest in the British clinic operators Circle Health (London) and is set to join them in setting up and running a number of rehabilitation centres.

This is just the next stage of the successful healthcare group’s worldwide expansion program as it chalks up one set of record results after the other. Thanks to key projects in the Austrian healthcare system and major hospital schemes in Europe, Africa, the Asia-Pacific region and Latin America the firm’s order books are now worth EUR 2 billion for the first time. VAMED has also increased its involvement in disease prevention, health tourism and research, and its 17,000 employees have seen organic sales grow by 5% to EUR 1.16 billion.

In addition to numerous projects in Austria and expansion into the UK, the successful renovation and extension of the Charité in Berlin, Germany’s largest university hospital, has proved to be one of the company’s most important international showcase projects.

To date, VAMED has completed more than 800 healthcare projects in a total of 79 countries spread over four continents. As a technical services provider, the company provides support for 600 healthcare institutions (with some 143,000 beds) and is responsible for managing the entire operation of 52 facilities.
