ACTS takes off in style

8. June 2011

ANTO, Dubai states that since the launch of ACTS, the visitor numbers have increased by almost 20% from the Middle East to Austria. The Austrian Trade Commission takes a tour

The Austrian Certified Travel Specialist (ACTS) was launched by the Austrian Tourist Office in 2008 and by the end of 2010, 800 members of the travel trade had successfully passed the course to become certified Austrian travel specialists.

Agencies qualified for this award by having more than 10 staff in the same branch graduate from the Austrian Certified Travel Specialist (ACTS) online B2B destination training academy (at least two of the graduates had to have passed the course in autumn or winter 2010).

According to Charlotte Newby, marketing manager, ANTO, Dubai, since the launch of the travel trade training programme, the visitor numbers have increased by almost 20% from the Middle East to Austria, and the award was a way of thanking the trade for their “dedication“
"Although bookings through the internet are increasing the majority of holidays in Austria are still booked through a travel agent," she said.
"An increase of 19.4% in arrivals and 20.4% in room nights from the Middle East to Austria and a dedicated pool of members of the travel industry eager to learn more about Austria meant it was definitely time for an award!" said Newby.
ACTS graduates receive a certificate, the chance to participate in the annual ACTS FAM trip, are listed on the ANTO Arabic S2C website, as well as benefitting through marketing activities from ANTO.
Agencies that received the Austrian Tourism Trophy were: Abu Dhabi Travel Bureau, Al Ain Branch and Head Office, Abu Dhabi; Al Rais Holidays, Dubai; Al Reyami Travel and Tourism, Dubai, Call Center, and Abu Dhabi; Al Rostamani Travel and Holidays, Dubai; Dnata Travel Services – DWT EGTC, Dubai; Silk Road Travel & Tourism, Abu Dhabi; Al Tayyar Travel Group, Riyadh; Dnata Kuwait, Darwish Travel Bureau, Doha and Regency Travel & Tours, Doha.
Mohamed Al Rais, deputy managing director, Al Rais Travel who received the award said, “Austria is getting more popular every year in UAE. As people started to become more aware of the destination we even started to have repeated clients. People who go there always recommend that their family and friends go there which shows the destination is promising. The most important aspect of this country, is the safety, and the different types of foods - and of course one of the best natural landscapes in the world.”
