Austrian Excellence in m-Content 2010

The World Summit Award Mobile (WSA-mobile) is an Austrian initiative, which organised the World’s first Global Conference and Gala for mobile content and applications in Abu Dhabi.
Austrian companies Exthex and Wikitude won trophies for best products in mobile applications.

The World Summit Award Mobile (WSA-mobile) is an Austrian initiative, which organised the World’s first Global Conference and Gala for mobile content and applications in Abu Dhabi. From 6th to 8th December the world's best mobile contents and most innovative cell phone applications were presented in areas ranging from m-Business and m-Government to m-Health and m-Empowerment.

The WSA-mobile content (WSA-mobile) selects and promotes the world’s best in mobile content and innovative applications. It is based on the expertise, mechanism and network of the World Summit Award (www.wsis-award.org) and is held every two years. The first Winners’ Gala took place in Abu Dhabi in December 2010 in cooperation and along with the UN DESA GAID Global Forum.
WSA-mobile emphasizes cultural diversity and identity, the creation of varied information content and the digitalization of educational, scientific and cultural heritage. It aims to make the benefits of the new Information Society accessible and meaningful for all humanity, and in particular, to raise public awareness and give deserved public recognition to the highest quality e-Content, produced all over the world. As of today, around 160 countries actively participate in the initiative.
The WSA-mobile awards honour the most outstanding content in 8 categories: m-Business, m-Government, m-Health, m-Learning, m-Media, m-Enterainment, m-Tourism and m-Inclusion. In each of the eight categories, the Grand Jury of global experts selected 5 winners.

India and US producers have won 4 awards each in the 8 categories of the WSA-mobile. Russia and Germany scored high in content quality with 3 winners each. Austrian companies Exthex and Wikitude won trophies for best products in mobile applications. More than 420 products from close to 100 UN member states were entered in the 2010 contest.
