Austrian Minister meets his UAE counterpart and high level dignitaries

During his two day visit to UAE last month Austrian minister of Environment, Agriculture and Water met his UAE counterpart and other high level dignitaries in an attempt to boost relations, exchange expertise and issues of mutual interest and also to study the municipal activities of UAE. The Austrian Trade Commission reports. 

During his two day visit to UAE last month H.E. Dipl. Ing. Nikolaus Berlakovich, Federal Minister for Agriculture and Forestry, Austria met his UAE counterpart and other dignitaries to discuss relevant issues such as trade relations as well as areas of environment, food, agriculture and livestock. In a bid to study the Dubai municipality and its role in the development of Dubai as a global hub, Mr. Berlakovich visited the Dubai municipality and met Eng. Hussain Nasser Lootah ,Director General, Dubai Municipality. He was accompanied by many high placed officials including Dr. Julius Lauritsch, Austrian ambassador to the UAE.
While receiving the delegation, Eng. Lootah said, “Strengthening mutual relationship is most needed when we seek best practices to be shared".
"As we are aspiring to go high in many fields of municipal administration we have to learn more from the other parts of the globe,” added Lootah. Mr. Nikolaus Berlakovich was quoted as saying after the visit "Dubai has made its own unique way in the field of development. As civic body, Dubai Municipality also has played a good role in this progress. Everybody has to learn from this."
Officials from Municipality also made presentations before the visitors which detailed various activities and achievements of the Civic Body that have been accomplished in past years. Eng. Lootah presented the guests with commemorative shields.
On another occasion he met UAE Environment and Water Minister Dr. Rashid Ahmed bin Fahd separately at Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre. Other dignitaries present at the event included the British Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Hon. James Paice, Austrian Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Nikolaus Berlakovich and Lebanese Minister of Agriculture Hussein Al Hajj Hassan.

During the three meetings, the UAE minister discussed ways to boost the relations, exchange expertise and issues of mutual interest with the three ministers, especially in the areas of environment, food, agriculture and livestock, as well as, exchange of animal and agro products and areas of renewable energy.

Dr. Fahd also briefed them on the efforts being exerted by the UAE on conservation of environment in addition to joint interest in the area of renewable energy.
