From 110 business formations a year 73% are startups and the share is still rising.
The highly skilled young entrepreneurs focus on the European and global market. Shining examples of worldwide successful Austrian startups are runtastic - a standard fitness-app of the new Apple watch, shpock - an app which enables direct sales and purchases within a network of 10 million users, as well as Fastlane - a project which was recently acquired by Twitter.
The Pioneers Festival - a yearly highlight of the startup community which takes place in the stunning historic Hofburg palace in Vienna – brings together 1,600 startups from 90 countries and 400 international investors.
