The two-day visit has been organized by the Austrian Commercial Office in Tirana in cooperation with the Vienna based Austrian Consultant Association.

Austria has shown great interest in investing in Albania's infrastructure and energy sector. A group of representatives of Austrian consultant companies have been exploring recent developments in Tirana-Durres area and the possibility of new investments.

After a series of meetings in Tirana on Tuesday, the representatives of some 22 consultant firms from Austria visited the "former quagmire" area in the coastal city. The were familiarized with the development of this informal area, where non-governmental institute Co-Plan, supported by the Austrian Government, has been implementing a series of projects on acceleration of legalization and integration of the 50 hectares area.

Local authorities and representatives of Co-Plan urged the need of investments in the infrastructure of these area inhabited by some 35 thousands residents. Later, the delegation, headed by Commercial Counselor for Albania Christian Miller, visited the Port of Durres.
Austrian consultants expressed particular interest in modernization of the Durres seaport. They were briefed also on the future projects to be implemented in Porto Romano area, 10 kilometers from Durres, where an oil terminal is under construction while a new project on a huge energy park is being considered.

According to Austrian visiting representatives, Albania is a safe and secure country that needs serious economic partners.
