Austria at Fine Food Australia 2010

21 October 2010

Fifteen Austrian companies presented their products at the inaugural Austrian pavilion and information booth at Australia's largest exhibition in the food and beverage sector.

After months of planning, our office presented no less than 15 Austrian companies at the inaugural Austrian pavilion at Australia’s largest trade show in the food and beverage sector, Fine Food Australia, from 13 to 16 September 2010 at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre.

Nine Austrian companies participated via a catalogue display and product representation at a common information stand, with many also making their products available to sampling.

The Austrian companies Berglandmilch, Gunz, Klosterquell, Maresi, Pfanner, and Sonnentor were represented by their own or their importers' sales personnel as well as their products.

Our office also organised an excursion for the delegates from some of these companies to some large supermarkets in Melbourne. Perusing the aisles of Leo's Fine Food & Wine in Glen Iris, as well as Woolworths and Coles at Chadstone shopping centre, our delegates were able to observe firsthand Australian tastes and shopping habits, while also gaining an impression of the market for their products.

The diversity of Austrian products available in this sector was an eye-opener for many and encompassed confectionery; chocolate; cheese; iced tea and coffee; fruit juice beverages; fruit preserves; organic teas, coffee and spices; pumpkin seed oil; savoury snacks; a nutritional supplement; energy drinks and beer.

These products were further showcased at a cocktail reception on the third evening of the trade show, with Australian industry professionals invited to enjoy Austrian-themed hors d’oeuvre while sampling the wide range of goods from our exhibitors.

This function provided the invited Australian importers and our exhibitors an ideal opportunity to network in a relaxed environment. The success of the event was self-evident, with the broad smiles on the faces of all our guests speaking more than words as they bid us goodbye .

With strong interest from our exhibitors following on this year’s success, we are now planning the next Austrian pavilion at Fine Food in September 2011.
