Breathe Earth Collective's AEROSOL @ Dynamics of Air

22 October 2018

On the Austrian creative side, Austrian design firm Breathe Earth Collective is part of the DYNAMICS OF AIR exhibition open for visitor to the 17th November 2018 at RMIT Gallery, Melbourne.

Dynamics of Air is a new exhibition curated by Malte Wagenfeld which showcases specially commissioned works by designers, creative practitioners and engineers that capture the beauty, dynamics and sensuality of air in our built environment from all around the world.

Breathe Earth Collective created 'AEROSOL', a climatic installation project that involved constructing a four-meter version of a traditional Gradierwerk or salt breathing tower.

Saline water falls from the top of the tower over heavily scented melaleuca shrub sourced from the Barkindji Nation in the Mallee region which allows the visitors to inhale breathable saline aerosols and ethereal oils.

'AEROSOL' is a reinvention of the traditional 'Graduation Towers' developed in the 19th century in Austrian and German regions close to salt mines to cure lung diseases, and promotes benefits similar to breathing the salty air at the seaside.
