Festive Award Ceremony for the Energy Globe Bulgaria Winner in the Run-Up of the Energy Globe Online Action Day in Conjunction with U.N. World Environment Day

7. May 2012

At a festive award ceremony held on 7 May 2012 in Sofia, Bulgaria, the national Energy Globe Winner from Bulgaria, Krasen Dimitrov, together with his company, Ecobiotechnoservice, were presented with the award for their project “HELT Technology - Highly Efficient Gas Treatment.”

The Energy Globe Award presentation took place in cooperation with the Commercial Section of the Austrian Embassy in Sofia. The Commercial Counsellor at the Austrian Embassy, Michael Angerer, presented the certificate to the happy winner. Dimitrov was chosen for the award because of his new insights and research work in the field of plasma technology, a technology that is already put to frequent use in industrial settings, for example for purification of factory fumes, in nano technology, or air pollution control. Dimitrov focused his research on applications for daily life in combination with environmentally- friendly products, for example in reducing emissions, removing pollutants from water, air, and food, or for counteracting unpleasant smells - all applications which would normally not function without additional chemical additives or processes.

In the upcoming weeks, more national Energy Globe Award recipients from every continent will be presented in cooperation with the Commercial Sections of Austrian Embassies and local representatives.

Together with other sustainable Energy Globe Initiatives from 150 countries, this Bulgarian project will be internationally showcased on 5 June 2012 at . - the day when the Energy Globe Foundation in recognition of U.N. World Environment Day and under the patronage of UNIDO, UNEP, and UNESCO will present exceptional environmental solutions by Energy Globe winners from all over the world within 24 hours on a minute per minute basis. These projects range from high-tech solutions to simple yet efficient ideas offering answers to our most pressing environmental issues either through energy efficiency, the implementation of renewable energies, or the more careful use of resources such as water.

In connection with this worldwide unique Online Action Day, Energy Globe is offering individuals the opportunity to perform online energy efficiency checks or finding out through the help of an online solar tool how to use and generate solar energy under consideration of country-specific solar radiation conditions. The total sum of possible energy-potential savings as well as the total solar power potential will be documented in real time on a global energy meter.

With immediate effect, Energy Globe Award projects can be submitted to the Energy Globe Foundation. For more information and the entry form, please go to
