An Austrian company conquers the seven seas

In 2010, Frequentis won a major order from the Canadian Coast Guard. The contract comprised the delivery of a maritime communication system for the national coast guard service, covering the country's five regions, 12 hubs and 192 field offices.

Frequentis is a global high-tech firm based in Vienna. The Frequentis Group develops and sells communication and information systems for safety-critical solutions in the Air Traffic Management and Public Safety & Transport markets.

Frequentis has already successfully installed numerous maritime communication systems all over the world, but this order from the Canadian Coast Guard is by far the largest project ever implemented in the maritime sector, with a total of 240,000 km of coastline to be monitored. The key to the project's success lies in the solid technological basis of Frequentis' products and the company's established market position in Canada. Since 1997, Frequentis has also had a local presence with a subsidiary in Ottawa.

The architecture of the MCS3020 Maritime Communication System used in the project is based on experience gained from the implementation of similar projects, thus offering unrivalled safety and reliability. It features integrated voice communication for radio and telephone, as well as maritime applications and sensor information with comprehensive conferencing capabilities. The MCS3020 provides every operator with access to all communication channels, regardless of the system load, at any time and location.
