Almdudler - more than a herbal lemonade

Viennese company Almdudler has been producing the refreshing herbal lemonade of the same name for over 50 years. But it is not only dear to the hearts of Austrians - as its export success proves.

The Austrian drinks manufacturer Almdudler is increasing its focus on exports. In Germany - the company’s most important foreign market - Almdudler intends to double current annual sales of 15 million litres in the next five years. Almdudler is not just Austria’s “national drink”, but has become widely recognised beyond country borders - one in two Germans already associates the Almdudler name with the well-loved herbal lemonade from the Alps.

The Almdudler brand was founded in Vienna in 1957. The company is still run as a traditional Austrian family-owned company, now in the fourth generation. The business year 2008 proved a success with total revenue up by 5.4% to over 80 million litres. With a plus of 21%, exports were a key factor in this impressive rise. Exports account for around 20% of the company’s production.

This year the drinks manufacturer launched the “Almdudler retro can” with the first ever traditionally dressed couple from 1957 and repositioned itself on the beverage scene at the beginning of the year with the relaunch of “sugar-free Almdudler”. Almdudler’s goal for 2009 is growth of 2-3%.
