"Plan it smart. Clever Solutions for Smart Cities.", this is the motto of REAL CORP 2014, the 19th international conference on urban planning, regional development and information societies.

“Smart Cities” has become a widely used term for the implementation of information and communication technologies (ICT) into the processes of cities and the built environment. Fired up by various rankings, there seems to be a competition for the title of the “Smartest City”.

REAL CORP 2014 will address the following questions:

  • What does “Smart City” mean in terms of quality of life?
  • How does this trend influence economic prospects?
  • Are the concepts of sustainability and resilience part of the “Smart Cities” strategy?
  • What about politics and administration, policies and governance?
  • How do “Smart Solutions” influence the “hardware” of a city, the urban fabric?
  • Last but not least: what is the role of urban/spatial planning in and for “Smart Cities”?

Around 400 to 500 international experts from the fields of urban planning, transport planning, information and communication technology, architecture, social and environmental sciences, real estate, geodesy and remote sensing, multimedia technology etc. will come together to discuss projects and approaches to the latest issues in urban planning, regional development and information societies.

The conference programme includes around 180 lectures, presentations, podium discussions, workshops and smaller events.
