Energy Globe
10. August 2018

This year the National Energy Globe Award Denmark goes to the project Plastfri Roskilde Fjord while the Icelandic company Carbon Recycling International receives the National Energy Globe Award Iceland.

Plastfri Roskilde Fjord is a three-year long co-operation between Plastic Change and several other partners in order to systematically investigate, map and identify plastic pollution as well as its effects and sources at the Roskilde Fjord. The aim is to find concrete solutions to combat plastic pollution. The project is unique as it shows that it is also possible to take measures on a regional level and even involves the local community.

The Icelandic company Carbon Recycling International developed a new emissions-to-liquids (ETL) technology, converting CO2 emissions and hydrogen to methanol, which is a renewable liquid fuel. The process is cost-effective and suitable for larger scale production when capturing the emissions from an ongoing industrial process.

With more than 180 participating countries and over 2,000 project submissions in 2018, the Energy Globe Award is among the world’s most prestigious environmental prizes. The ceremony took place on 23rd August as part of ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA’S Back-2-Business Reception.
