ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA hands over recognised award at ENERGY EUROPE

On May 22nd 2013 Eva Frei, Austrian Commercial Counsellor in Copenhagen, handed over the recognised Energy Globe Award for Denmark to Glenn Noer, Senior Manager in DONG ENERGY´s Division for New Bio Solutions, for DONG Energy’s REnescience-Project, stating that the ENERGY GLOBE Award creates consciousness about our environmental challenges and that the REnescience-technology is an excellent example of a possible solution to one of our environmental challenges. Jørgen Abildgaard, Executive Climate Project Director of the Municipal of Copenhagen congratulated DONG ENERGY .

The jury of the ENERGY GLOBE Award voted for DONG Energy’s REnescience technology and made the following delaration: “Sustainable waste treatment methods are one of the keys to our future. This year’s National Winner of the Energy Globe Award for Denmark shows a holistic approach, how to treat unsorted household waste: the technology can turn more than 95% of the biodegradable material contained in mixed municipal solid waste into a "bio-liquid", which directly goes into the biogas production. This helps to reduce carbon emissions and offers a new opportunity for energy production. Resources and energy out of waste! “

The ENERGY GLOBE Award was founded in 1999 by the Austrian energy pioneer Wolfgang Neumann and is one of today’s most prestigious environmental awards. This year 6.000 projects from more than 161 countries participated. Goal of the Award is to present successful sustainable projects to a broad audience, for many of our environmental problems already have good, feasible solutions. Projects which conserve and protect our resources or that employ renewable energy can participate.

ENERGY GLOBE will present this year’s award-winning projects from 161 countries at the launch of World Environment Day on 5 June 2013 as part of the Global Sustainability Online Campaign.
