European Center of Peace in Austria

8. September 2011

A project in co-operation with the Austrian and international business world

Since its foundation in 1993 the Europakloster of the Benedictines in Gut Aich, St. Gilgen has set consequent initiatives for the peace- and integration work amongst religions and cultures in Europe. Over the years this initiative has been embraced by so many individuals and institutions that there now is an urgent wish to expand and turn the monastery into a European center of peace.

The intention is to construct a new building on the property of the monastery in approx. two years – both a new monastery and a peace church that fit into the landscape of St. Gilgen. Through its architecture and form the new building will express openness and the idea of a peaceful living together of all religions and cultures.

For the implementation of this extensive peace initiative Austrian and international businesses, institutions and private persons for whom integration and a peaceful living together is a key issue are invited to participate in the project.
