Due to thorough planning, rigid logistics, new technology, union agreements and a huge amount of machinery Strabag will finish the motorway project 1 year before scheduled

In 2010 The STRABAG consortium KMG – Kliplev Motorway Group had been awarded the tender for Denmark’s first PPP project. The consortium is responsible for the planning and construction of 26 km of the M51 motorway from Kliplev to Sønderborg as well as 18 km of side roads and seven interchanges. Moreover, Strabag will operate the road over a period of 26 years from completion. The total investment volume amounts to EUR 148 Mio.

In November KMG proudly announced that the inauguration of the motorway will take place 1 year earlier than planned, and on 31.03.12 the motorway will open for the public. According to KMG, Innovation and experience, together with a highly committed workforce are the main reasons for the rapid progress.

In a recent article about the project, Licitationen, the Danish construction newspaper, called the workforce ”frighteningly effective”.
