Top prizes for Austrian chocolate at international awards ceremony

Two Austrian chocolatiers have received high honours at the 2011 Academy of Chocolate award ceremony recently in London

The prestigious ceremony was held at luxury food and drink store, Fortnum & Mason , and was attended by chocolatiers from around the globe. The evening saw Austrian chocolatiers winning 2 Silver awards, Bachhalm Chocolate with “Best Flavoured Dark Bar” for their “Bachhalm Dark Mint” chocolate and Zotter chocolate with “Best Milk Bean to Bar” for their "Zotter Mitzi Blue Starmilk".

The Academy of Chocolate is an organisation exclusively for chocolate professionals who work to exceptionally high standards and produce only the finest chocolate confectionary. Their awards are regarded as one of the most important events in the industry and entries are marked by top chefs and food journalists.

Zotter chocolate, renowned in Austria for daring flavour combinations and ethical production, were extremely pleased to have won recognition for their artisan skills. Their chocolate is handmade, completely organic, entirely fair trade and the whole production process “from bean to bar” happens under one roof.

Bachhalm was equally pleased to have won such a prestigious award and to be recognised for their exquisite chocolate. Famous for using only the finest ingredients and a high proportion of cocoa butter, their chocolate has an exceptional velvety texture and rich aroma.

The awards further underline Austria’s expertise in the crafting of gourmet confectionary and are a great success for the Austrian chocolate industry.
