Copenhill - conveyor belts from Tyrol for a truly unique sport facility

500 meters of skiing slope and three Sunkid conveyor belts on the roof of a garbage incineration plant.

Sunkid GmbH  is a globally active provider of a broad product range for tourism regions, theme parks and worlds of experience. Their innovative solutions for person and goods transport now move millions of people from around the world. In winter, solutions like skiing conveyor belts and surface lifts guarantee fun and adventure in the snow.

With its highest peak just falling short of 171m, Denmark was not known for its skiing slopes. Then CopenHill opened – Probably the most extraordinary skiing slope in the world.

The roof of the new garbage incineration plant Amager Bakke in Copenhagen was converted into a unique local relaxation area and sports centre, among other things permitting year-round skiing. Copenhageners can now ski and snowboard in the middle of Copenhagen on a black/red piste - the upper part of the ski slope or a blue/green piste on its middle and lower part.

Three Sunkid conveyor belts (36 m, 51 m and 96 m) and a platter lift transport the more than 300,000 visitors expected year-round to a height of 85 m. The Tyrolean company Sunkid not only supplied the conveyor belts but also essentially contributed to planning the conveyor solutions and the skiing slope. Instead of a mountain panorama, the athletes get a 360 degrees view over Copenhagen.
