 Wienerberger acquires 100% of Baggeridge

Austrian company Wienerberger , the world's largest brick manufacturer has completed its acquisition of Baggeridge, a leading UK bricks maufacturer. The purchase price for 100% of the company amounts to GBP 100 million. The final cash offer of 247 pence per share has closed today and subsequently Baggeridge will be de-listed and registered as a private company.

Baggeridge is one of the largest manufacturers of clay bricks and pavers in the UK and produces 300 million bricks per year in its five factories in Sedgley, Kingsbury, Rudgwick, Hartlebury and Waresley.

Wienerberger was founded in 1819 in Vienna and at present has 250 production plants in 25 countries and employs 13,600 people. It is world market leader for hollow bricks and facing bricks and No 2 in Europe for clay roof tiles. Wienerberger has been working in the UK for many years and operates 9 manufacturing sites in the UK. Its leading brands are Terca facing bricks and Koramic clay roof tiles.

The combined operation of Wienerberger and Baggeridge will become the third largest brickmaker in Great Britain.
