The theme of Energex 2008 is ‘Energy for Human Development and the Protection of the Environment’. “It will be most important to implement energy measures and policies to finally bring about a paradigm change and to globally establish sustainability with respect to energy and environment issues”, says Prof. Nebojsa Nakicenovic, chair of the scientific committee of the congress and co-author of the assessment reports of the Intergovernmental Penal of Climate Change (IPCC), an association that has been awarded this year’s Nobel Prize together with Al Gore.

The congress will present technical, economic and social analyses of energy systems. These issues relate to the scientific, industrial and governmental sectors of our economy. Security of supply, production, distribution, consumption and energy efficiency for all forms of energy are integrated within the technical and plenary sessions and presentations by distinguished keynote speakers.
