Astra Games moves into new production facilities

15. February 2008

Astra Games, the UK-based subsidiary of Austrian gaming giant Novomatic has opened new state-of-the-art production facilities and offices in Bridgend, South Wales. The new development covers an 80,000 square foot area and is primed to take advantage of the advent of the Gambling Act in the UK.

Astra House will accommodate a large R & D department consisting of Games Design, Software, Graphic Design and Mechanical Development, plus the UK and Export Sales and After Sales team. The Production facilities will have an increased capacity compared with its previous facility and will form part of The Novomatic Group of Companies' worldwide “Centres Of Excellence”. Integral to this development is the company's experienced and skilled staff base which is geared to meeting the Novomatic Group's desire to innovate and expand into all emerging opportunities.

“Astra’s core values have always been focused on invention and innovation,” stated Astra Games Managing Director Neil Chinn, “the environment we have been able to create in our new facilities will nurture and grow this innovation, and not just within Astra’s R & D team; each individual department seeks to progress and improve its performance through new ideas and more effective systems. The concept of “adding value” throughout the company will be greatly assisted by Astra’s new Production Offices and Facilities, leading to stronger products, better service and long term success for Astra and its partners and customers.”

With the acquisition of an 80 per cent shareholding in Astra Games Holdings Ltd by Novo Gaming UK Ltd in 2004, the Austrian-based Novomatic Group of Companies continued its successful course of expansion in the field of manufacturing. With Astra, Novomatic established a third competence centre in the EU and was able to strengthen its market position in the highly competitive British market, which has virtually become a new home market.
