Cycoplast secures £242,000 UK contract

Austrian plastics recycling and processing firm Cycoplast has secured the largest surface drainage contract in the company’s history, supplying six miles of drainage trenches to a new waste processing plant in Cambridgeshire.

Cycoplast, the independent plastics processing division of Austrian environmental services firm Häusle GmbH, has won a £242,000 contract to supply a six-mile ‘Universal’ trench drainage system to a new mechanical biological treatment (MBT) facility in Waterbeach Cambridgeshire. The Waterbeach facility processes 170,000 tonnes of household waste each year. Austrian firm Kelag also supplied technology for the MBT plant.

“The ‘Universal’ trench drains which Cycoplast produces, alongside roof tiles, grass reinforcement mesh and paving grids, were specifically designed for MBT treatment plants, like the new facility in Cambridgeshire. An integrated, adjustable aeration system helps to produce a very high quality compost. As with all Cycoplast products, the ‘Universal’ drains have a very high ultimate load capacity and are resistant to weathering and fluctuations in temperature, so they are also ideal for use as cable protection channels or for surface water drainage”, explains Cycoplast’s Sales & Marketing Director, Oliver Huber.

Cycoplast was originally founded in 1994 as Böhler Kunststofftechnik and is now a stand-alone division of Häusle GmbH. The company recycles and processes some 5000 tonnes of recovered plastic each year and uses it to make innovative construction materials. To meet rising demand for its ecological roof tiles, paving grids and trench drainage systems, the Cycoplast is now expanding it production site to increase overall output by one third.
