Austrian Wines launch major UK on-trade promotion

Austrian Wine once a niche product, the wine world’s best kept secret, is beginning to create quite a stir in this country. Last month’s Annual Tasting of Austrian Wines at the Institute of Directors attracted 300 importers, merchants journalists, wine connoisseurs and not least, the Chef Sommeliers of some of the top restaurants in the country.   

From this week for 6 weeks there will be an opportunity for the first time, for everyone to taste Austria’s signature Grüner Veltliner, perhaps the world’s most fashionable grape variety, together with range of other exotic and delicious Austrian wines at some of the UK’s leading restaurants and bars.

Austrian wines have launched a national on-trade promotion to encourage sales of wine by the glass. Supported by a major consumer awareness campaign, the promotion started this week and will continue until the end of April.  

Consumer Prizes and Major Social media awareness campaign through Facebook and Twitter
A consumer awareness campaign supporting the Austrian Wines by the Glass promotion is being organized with a web-link and through Twitter and Facebook pages. These provide full details of all the restaurants and on-trade outlets offering Austrian wines by the glass and give details of consumer incentives including a free trip to Austria (for two), special discounts on sets of fine Riedel wine glassware and prizes of top quality Austrian wines.
