Free seminar on intercultural competence open to public in London

The European Diploma in Intercultural Competence
6. July 2011

Held in association with The European Diploma in Intercultural Competence (EDICC), the seminar aims to raise awareness of the diploma and of the nature and importance of intercultural competence.

In an increasingly multinational and multilingual world intercultural awareness is becoming more important than ever. Understanding and working with cultural differences have become a key area of interest not only in business but in fields such as academia, education and tourism. The European Diploma in Intercultural Competence (EDICC) is a recently developed two year project sponsored by European Union's Lifelong Learning Programme aimed at developing an academic curriculum for continuing education in intercultural competence.

The main focus of the EDICC seminar in London is to foster debate with the public about effective intercultural competence through the medium of short talks from distinguished speakers followed by Q&A sessions. The event is free and will take place on Monday, September 12, 2011 starting at 9 a.m. in the WLE Centre in the Institute of Education.
