Europe's tallest wooden building with construction materials from Austria

12. March 2015

A new building in London is further proof of binderholz's extensive expertise in prestige projects and is opening up new possibilities in multi-storey solid timber construction.

Architects Hawkins/Brown have been commissioned by Regal Homes to design Europe’s tallest multi-storey building with cross laminated timber. For this project in London binderholz will supply 1,400 cubic metres of Austrian wood along with the requisite expertise. Regal Homes is erecting a 10-storey residential building on Wenlock Road, East London, using a hybrid construction with 6,750m² usable space and is thereby setting new standards in solid timber construction.

However, binderholz is not only building Europe’s tallest wooden building, the Austrian company is also currently working on two spectacular timber buildings in England. In London/Dalston binderholz is supplying a residential block with 100 apartments – a building using a solid timber construction which will be up to nine storeys high. This will require 4,500 cubic metres of wood from Austria.

binderholz is a family-owned company with six sites in Austria and Germany. The range of solid wood products includes dimension lumber, surfaced lumber, solid wood panels, glulam beams, binderholz cross laminated timber BBS and organic fuels. The products are exported worldwide.
