Get behind the covers of new books from Austria

24. February 2015

Books from one of Austria's leading publishers are now distributed in the UK. Anton Pustet is just one of the publishing houses you can meet at this year's London Book Fair.

Salzburg-based publisher Anton Pustet is now distributed in the UK by Global Book Marketing , making it easier than ever to get your hands on their latest titles. Founded in 1863, Anton Pustet publishes on topics including food and drink, architecture, art, history and the great Austrian outdoors. And with several titles available in both English and German, its books are sure to find an enthusiastic British readership. Here's a taste of Anton Pustet's top titles.

The Trapp Cookbook

We all know the film and some of us have even got the T-shirt - but have you eaten the food? Johanna Raudaschl was the Trapp family cook, who lived alongside the family and catered for their every culinary need - from soups and roasts to delicious deserts. Luckily for us, Raudaschl collected her recipes and passed them on to her granddaughter, Irmgard Wöhrl, who has worked with biographer Caroline Kleibel to produce this lavish illustrated cookbook. Yum!

The Hot 95

Call it what you will, the hot dog, sausage, banger, Wiener or Frankfurter is a hit all over the world. And as this book contends, that's nowhere more so than in Vienna, where the traditional Viennese sausage stand has held its ground against the global fast food chains and established itself as a true culinary institution - beloved by young and old, rich and poor. The Hot 95 pays tribute to the humble sausage stand with text by museum curator Sebastian Hackenschmidt and images by Viennese photographer Stefan Oláh.

Inside the Museum Storage

Stefan Oláh's photographs are also on display in this rare behind-the-scenes look at Austria's museum storage depots - home to some 90 per cent of the collections you might expect to have found on public display. Accompanied by nine short essays by conservator and muelogist Martina Griesser-Stermscheg, the photos tell the fascinating, surprising and sensational stories of the collections' most hidden treasures.
